Egypt

Travellers have been marvelling at Egypt’s wondrous antiquities for thousands of years.

In past centuries, it was mostly those who were eager to improve their minds who travelled to the Nile, to discover for themselves the remains of the ancient civilization of the pharaohs. What was then only possible for a few members of the privileged classes, is today within the means of many people.

Most visitors content themselves with the monuments of Ancient Egypt, making pilgrimages to tombs and temples.   Yet Egypt has much more to offer than pyramids and colossal statues.  Off the beaten track, travellers will discover a country of enormous variety, which has been conquered many times, absorbing and integrating new cultures without giving up its own heritage.
